Thrifty Finds – July 21

Green Tool Box a

I haven’t written about any of my junking finds lately.  I have been to some garage sales and a couple of auction sales, but not nearly as many as usual.  I have been working hard this month getting my shop restocked with awesome junk after doing almost nothing with it from late March through early June.  Here are a few items.

This green metal toolbox is one of my favorites.  Love the color.  It is in very good condition and could be used for so many different storage options.

Blue Tool Box a

Not only metal toolboxes, but wood, handled toolboxes are items I always pick up.  Love the blue color on this one.

Blue Train Case a

Finding a few different train cases as well.  This blue train case is perfect for storage.  I have a black Samsonite one that I have to get listed soon.

Sewing Drawer a

I used to find a lot of drawers from old sewing machines.  I don’t come across them nearly as often, but I do pick them up when I can.  This one is a typical design for a sewing machine drawer.  However I have another one with a great pull knob also listed.

Bright Pink Hat a

I have found some fun and funky hats.  I love the color of this bright pink puff hat.

Orange Wool Cloche Hat a

Or this orange cloche hat.  I have quite a few hats listed.  Fall will be coming when wearing hats will be easier than in this hot weather.

Crochet Half Apron Blue White a

I have also listed many different vintage aprons. From this crocheted apron.

Gray Apron Basket a

To this embroidered fruit basket apron.

Funky Flower Full Apron a

To full aprons like this funky flower full apron. Right now I have listed over 25 vintage aprons.

Even though I have not been writing about my junking or my Etsy shop, that is still apart of my life. Still enjoying it.  Life is good.

November – Good Sales Month

I had my second best sales month ever. This past July was my best.  31 items went out the door this month.  I have so enjoyed the interaction with my customers.  Everyone has just been wonderful to work with.  I have had some rush orders, and others that have asked me to hold the orders, so they don’t arrive when they aren’t home.  I am always happy to try make it work for them.

I have also listed a few new things.

Blue Snack Set d

This lovely turquoise Hazelware snack set is simply lovely.  I fell for the color as well as the shape.

Anchor Hocking Snack Set d

I also added two beautiful Anchor Hocking Snack Sets.  The trays are clear glass, but the cups are an emerald-green.  Perfect for a holiday party.  I decided to sell the two, 8 piece sets together.

Amber Bubble Pitcher

This funky dot Hazel Atlas pitcher.  I call it a bubble pitcher. Not sure what it really is called.

Brown File Drawers Stacked

A set of industrial file drawers.  There are 3 stackable cabinets that I decided to sell together.  Is industrial still hot right now?  I think so, my industrial items still seem to sell.

Green Wool Hat a

Still finding vintage hats.  So I added this lovely green wool hat to my store.

Scarf d

I also added this vintage scarf along with a couple of cowboy hats and leather gloves.  Since it is cold outside here in North Dakota it is easier to list warm clothing.

Fisher Price Airport a

I even added some vintage 1970s Fisher Price toys like this Fisher Price Airport set.

Fisher Price Service Station a

Or this wonderful Fisher Price Parking Ramp and Service Station.  I love those toys that were like ones I played with.  Those Little People were so much better than the shape and look of those “safer” ones today.

Sewing Drawer

This vintage sewing drawer was listed and sold quickly, but I just had to show it to you.  The design and the drawer pull were fabulous. This one is one of those items in the bottom of an auction box that makes me squeal in delight at the unexpected find.  It would be wonderful as a storage drawer in a craft room.

Yes, there is much more.  I think the next couple of weeks will remain steady, or at  least I hope they do, so I will be focusing on listing and selling.

If you have a store, are you finding that your sales are up?

Vintage Finds

This is one of my favorite finds lately.  I won this wood, chippy red, rocking chair at an auction sale this past Sunday.  It was being sold with several dolls and stuffed animals, so it was mostly hidden from other bidders.  The dolls and stuffed animals have been donated to my favorite thrift store, and the red rocking chair for a toddler or a doll is already listed in my shop.

I love the patina of this old bread warmer that was placed on top of a wood burning stove.  I think it would make a lovely piece of home decor.

Mod items are hot right now.  Love the look of this stainless steel appetizer tray with the wood handle.  Perfect for holiday entertaining.

I wish I had found two of these amber candlesticks.  It is so pretty in sparkling light.  Beautiful fall decor that I can enjoy until someone else buys it.

My eyes seem to go to amber items lately.  This old 1950s lighter with ashtray was stunning.  I listed it recently, and it sold about two days later.

Finally this wood cowboy hat.  I typically stick to women’s vintage hats or hats.  I have even purchased a couple of Stetson cowboy hats, but the price was so good on this lovely wool hat, I snatched it up.  It is a hat made from Golden Gate Hats Co, in Los Angeles.

I am continuing to work on organizing my items to use, to redo and to sell.  It is a constant battle.  Any tips?
